Owl's Birthday Party!

We had Grams over for dinner tonight. I was very happy to see her, and I got lots of pats. The humans had steak, corn, tomatoes and fruit for dinner.  Then Owl opened his presents, and then they had cake. Once again, Tiggy made a delicious cake, and Roo decorated it.

Originally, Roo was going to write "Happy Birthday, Daddy!" in letters piped from  melted chocolate chips . Unfortunately, they didn't all set, so that's what Owl saw when he came home.=)

Roo put this on top. Who knows what it's a chocolate model of?

Yep. Owl's Eagle Scout eagle. :)
I hope you had a very awesome birthday, Owl!

Lots of love,
Rosie:)

Happy Birthday OWL!!!!!!

Today is Owl's 35th 45th 52 birthday. (Not that you would guess it, notice that it took me three tries to guess his age!)

He's the most wonderfulest Daddy in the world and we're all so lucky to have him.

Here are some fun facts about Owl.

1. He was born in France but is American.
Helping Daddy with the leaves.

At the park with Owl.

Owl? What are you doing?

He's a great soccer player!

But he has a weird obsession with giving me baths.

See, he's at it again!

NOOOO....

Going out to play soccer.

and stick

Run Owl, Run!

Me hauling the tree Owl chopped down.

Watching Owl chop the tree.

2. He is the best chemical engineer in the world.

3. He has lived in "about 4 or 5" states. (Not including France of course.)

4. He is the best soccer and stick player in the family who is a human. I'm the best overall though...

5. I love him LOTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Opening ceremonies

As a famed Olympic athlete, I naturally participated in the opening ceremonies, and marched in the parade of nations. Here are some pictures of me getting ready to march.

My Olympic events

I thought that you, my faithful readers, might be interested o learn that I will be competing in the Olympics.  I will be competing in the famed and popular Cute-ing event.  Cute- ing is an intensive and competitive sport, that requires skill, stamina, and endurance.  Here are some pictures of me participating in Cute- ing. You have to submit a bunch of pictures to the judges, before making a personal appearance.  Here's my portfolio

The Olympic opening ceremonies (live blog)

I'm here watching the Olympic opening ceremonies. They're currently switching from agrarian England to Industrial England, complete with all the appropriate symbolism. I'll update again in a few minutes!

UPDATE: Now they're honoring WWI veterans. And they're back to the industrial revolution....

Update#2: After a discussion about the Olympic rings, the girls have decided that they aren't actually a Lord of The Rings reference. What do you think? I'm cuddling Tiggy while Roo types. My life is good.

Update #3: that was really cool the way the Queen came in. The corgis were almost as cute as I am. :) I think it was a cool idea to have God Save the Queen sung by a signing choir.  They were wearing PJ's, which we  think may be have to do with Peter Pan.

Update #4: That was kinda weird at first, with the doctors and nurses and the villains, but then 40 Mary Poppins arrived, and it was awesome.:)

Update #5: That was awesome! It was a combination of Mr. Bean (a British comedy show) and Chariots of Fire. It was hilarious.:)

Update #6: They just did this kind of weird thing transitioning from the industrial age to the digital age. (Read the following sentence in a British accent for full effect)The costumes are somewhat odd, but they're playing some of the greatest hits of the '60's, '70's, and 80's, on 98.1 WOGL.

Update #7: The end of that was really weird, with lots of bad rap music. At this point, Roo would like to make a PSA that not all teenagers party like that, and that the vast majority of them have better taste in music.  The Olympic torch has entered the stadium!!!  They showed the torch coming down the Thames.

Update #8: Not a whole lot of excitement. Ryan Seacrest interviewed Michael Phelps.  Maybe we can have popcorn soon. I like popcorn. Popcorn is very yummy.

Update #9: They're in the parade of nations now.  Greece went first, and then they go alphabetically. Now, you may be asking yourself why Greece goes first.  The answer is of course, the word Olympic, like all words, comes from Greek.  Now they're on Canada. We're eating popcorn. Did I mention that I like popcorn?!

Update #10: We've made it through China.

Update #11: Egypt. And begging Tiggy for popcorn.

Update #12: Eritea through Grenada.  The German outfits were awful.Hot pink does NOT go with the colors of the German flag. *hides eyes behind paws*

Update #13: Israel....

Update # 14: South Korea

Update #15: Mexico

Update # 16: Rwanda

Update #17: The parade is dragging on. I've gotten bored and left the room. We've made it through the "S" countries, I think. :)

Update # 18: Uganda

Update #19:  WOOO!!! GO USA!!!!!!!!!

Update #20: Roo's going to take her shower, so it will be a little while until my next update.:)

Update #21: The parade is finished. There was some music. Now they're doing the ceremonious part.

Update #22: The games are officially open. They're marching the flag around the stadium.

Update#23: The torch is arriving. I wonder who's going to light the cauldron.

Update #24: It's been lit. They're setting off fireworks.

Goodnight, all!
Love,
Rosie

The Greatest Heist that Ever Failed

So, this post is either about my attempt at taking one of the two objects that are featured in the two pictures below.

Any guesses which one?
Crunch and Cleans and...

Elementary Differential Equations and Boundary Value Problems (a form of calculus one believes).

Come on! Any guesses?

Hint: It's not the calculus book.

So, here's what happened.

Kanga went grocery shopping today at the new grocery store near us. Well, it's actually not new new- it had been another grocery store but they got sold to a different store which shut the place down for a while and renovated it, and now it's just reopened. Confused yet? Not that the history of the store has much anything to do with the post. Anyway, at the store, Kanga bought me some crunch and cleans and I love those biscuits!!!!! I haven't had them in a long time.

Tigger gave me one and a half right before the family ate dinner and then left the box on the island in the kitchen. I saw them and a plan formed in my extremely large and intelligent brain. (By the way, I am also incredibly humble!) As the family was eating dinner, I pounced on the box pulled it off the island and began to snarf down the biscuits.

I forgot to take one thing into account though when formulating my plans. The box didn't hit the floor silently and Tigger guessed immediately what was going on and lept up and cruelly snatched the box away from me and put the biscuits away. It was very sad- there I was with an entire box of crunch and cleans within my paws, literally, and tit was taken away from me.

I would like to point out though, that the humans have only themselves to blame for my attempt at taking the biscuits. If they bought me crunch and cleans more often, and if Tigger had given me more before dinner than I would not have felt as compelled to help my self. Also just this morning Kanga remarked that it must be very sad to always have to wait for someone to bring you food (it is), so I was being a self-motivated dog and helping myself.

The story does have a happy ending. (I know you were all on the edge of your seats waiting to hear that!)Tigger gave me some C&Cs when taking the pictures for this post.

WWFN,

Rosie the Wonderfulest Dog That Ever There Was
Posing with the box. Do you know how much self control it took to not just dive right in?
Tigger does this thing with me where she puts a treat on my paw and won't let me eat it until she says I may.

I have to look away so as not to give into temptation.
At last! The treat is mine!!!!!

Doings, Happenings, and the Like

Well folks, what's been going on in my life?

Well, first of all the Roo is off at the Aunt and Uncle's over the river (and through the woods to Aunt K and Uncle J's we go...). I miss her, but am not as lonely as I would have been since Tigger has today and yesterday off from work. Yesterday was really hot- the sort of day where you put your big fluffy tail between your legs and try to avoid going outside. Today is much nicer out. Tigger and I were out there weeding for over and hour, and it was lovely.

It's been so hot, that I need to look at pictures of the beautiful, happy, snowy time to cool myself off!

I'm getting ready to go off to the post office with Tigger. My friend the electrician is here. He's great and I love to see him and I wag my tail lots. Yesterday I was somewhat upset at first when the people came to fix the stucco on the house. I wanted to go out and visit, but Tigger refused to let me.
