Roo replied,"Tigger those are just berries in the snow. You always see those." Detective Rosie sniffed the tracks and the red spots that followed along the tracks. Nope, those red spots were definitely not berries!
"That's blood alright," said Owl, confirming the great detective and Tigger's suspicions. Sure enough the set of deer tracks had spots of blood with almost every print. Owl bravely followed the tracks away from the trail while the girls and the great detective looked at the tracks by the trail. Owl reported that the amount of blood seemed to be increasing as the tracks went along. The the tracks crossed the trail again later, but the great detective didn't see the deer. However, she did come up with a plausible explanation for what happened to the deer. What do you think the great detective's theory is?

The great detective thinks that a hunter shot the deer but didn't quite manage to kill it. This is because there have been hunters (illegally) in the woods of late. The great detective is upset thinking about the hurt deer and hopes that it doesn't have to suffer too long, even though the detective really dislikes deer in general.
