1:05 pm October 29, 2012
I was trying to start this earlier, but the internet wasn't cooperating. Gee, I can't imagine why.
Anyway, the wind and rain have definitely been picking up throughout the day.
I went out about 9:30 this am to do, well, a dog's personal needs, and got very wet. I was not amused. I had to take a big nap afterwards to dry out.
At about 11:30 am or so the news people announced that Kanga's hospital was without power already. She's glad to not be working today and tomorrow. :) Owl is off work, and Tigger is off school as well. I've been busy helping them both with homework and work.

| Hard to see, but the great Lake Superior is forming in the front yard. |

| Hard to really get a good picture of how windy it is, but this shows it a little bit. |

| Tigger is about to take me out to attend to my dogish needs. Not looking forward to getting wet!!!!! 1:30 pm October 29, 2012 Just back from going outside. ICKY!!!!!!! I GOT VERY WET!!! From only a few minutes outside. Owl is getting ready to call Aunt J-Dog who lives in NYC to find out how things are going there. For Irene her comment was "I've got plenty of wine and cat food so I'm fine." 2:10 pm October 29, 2012 Winds still increasing. Looking like it's supposed to become even nastier before it's over. 4:10 PM October 29, 2012 Sandy is about 50 miles from land. It's raining a little harder, and the wind is still increasing. I'm waiting on my dinner. There's a decent sized branch down in the front yard and Lake Superior is filling up.
Trust the bowtie: Nabby "Hurricane" Schwartz
5:16 pm
Winds have dramatically increased. Power is flickering. Looks like it's going to be a long night!
5:33 pm
Sandy is making landfall!!!!!!!!
Evidently, in NJ, there are wave heights of 20 feet. EEK!
5:49 pm
I'm putting up a new poll- you're supposed to vote after the storm passes you, but I'm posting it now, so it's sure to go up. BTW, you've gotta love Gov. Christie- he sure tells it like it is.
7:05 pm
The girls took me out during a temporary lull, but there were some impressive gusts. Here are some pictures from earlier this afternoon/ evening.
I also helped Tigs study
And hid under the dining room table.
STAY SAFE!!!!!!
7:58 PM
The electricity has started flickering again. Strong gusts seem more frequent.
8:46
We're hearing some big stuff fall right by us. Tigs wants to move to the basement. Of course, when stuff isn't falling, it doesn't sound very windy. We're watching North and South, a very good BBC mini-series, on DVD. The girls are playing "what else was that actor/ actress in" with a fair amount of success.
9:05 pm
We just heard something else fall, but it was further off...
9:25 pm
I wonder by what miracle we still have power....
10:00 pm
The wind is pretty calm now, and we haven't heard anything fall recently.
10:55 pm
I don't hear anything outside, and haven't for a while. According to the NOAA, it looks like the worst is over. North and South just ended. Kanga was right that they would get engaged- not that the fact that she's seen it before would help her predict that- she said she could tell because he was mean to her. :)
11:02 pm
Tigger here disagreeing with Rosie's statement that the NOAA indicates the worst is over. According to their hour-by-hour windspeed chart, we haven't reached peak gusts yet and should be at peak gusts from about now until 2am.

Thanks for the updates Rosie!
Love, Tigger
Which is worse... the sound of falling residents at work, or the sound of trees falling right nearby? Meh, probably the residents, but the trees are still reeeeaaally scary. :)
Love,
Roo
